Cypriote historian Georgios Leventis discovered ancient lithographs on the Russian history during the thorough examination of his collection which he has been gathering for more than 10 years. Leventis is known to have studied in England in 1987-1998. He wrote a thesis on the Cypriotes' struggle for independence in Manchester. Studying the history of the East Mediterranean, he realized that it is closely connected with Russia which fought five wars against Turkey since 1787 in order to protect the Christians in Bulgaria, Serbia and other neighbouring countries. The history of Russian campaigns, battle scenes and the signing of the peace treaty between Russia and Turkey in San-Stephano, near Constantinople, in 1878, were reflected in the lithographs of that period. In a month Leventis will publish a new book. Some chapters of this book are devoted to Russia.
