3 Iranians Arrested for Trespassing Russian-Japanese Border

Border guards and Federal Security Service officers have conducted a joint operation in Primorye, Russian Far East, in the course of which they arrested three Iranian citizens, who were trying to reach Japan on a foreign-going ship, reported the press center of the Pacific Regional Department of Russia's Federal Border Service.

The arrestees were put into a local pre-trial detention center. Law enforcers have launched an investigation into an illegal attempt to cross the Russian-Japanese border.

In all since the beginning of 2003, the coast guard of the Pacific Regional Department have checked 96 Russian and 2 foreign vessels. 13 Russian vessels were arrested for illegal fishing. Almost 8,300 live crabs and 2,460 sea-urchins were released into the sea.
