Lordi works on horror film

The mask-clad heavy metal monster band Lordi from Finland is making its way onto the big screen with a horror flick.

Band leader Mr. Lordi, whose real name is Tomi Putaansuu, said the English-language fright feature, "Dark Floors", began shooting this month and is set to premiere in the band's home country at the end of the year.

Mr. Lordi, promoting the flick at the Cannes Film Festival this weekend, didn't want to give away too many secrets.

"In a way it is traditional horror film, but a traditional modern horror film. It has monsters obviously in it," he said Saturday. "It has some twists in the plot, of course, it has some horrific scenes and a horrific mood, it is more like a psychological thing.

"Lordi goes to the twilight zone, that is pretty much (what) you can say," he said.

The group's other members are known as Amen the Unstoppable Mummy, Awa the Vampire Countess, Ox the Hellbull and Kita the Alien Manbeast. Band members said they wanted to star in a horror film after winning last year's Eurovision Song Contest with their anthem "Hard Rock Hallelujah".
