The American Heart Association is trying to healthy hearts –especially for women – by introducing Go Red for Heart program.

Heart disease is an umbrella term for a number of different diseases which affect the heart. As of 2007, it is the leading cause of death in the United States, England, and Wales, killing one person every 34 seconds in the United States alone.
The No. 2 cause of death — cancer — is far behind, with fewer than 560,000 deaths in 2002.
Heart disease-related illnesses have been the country’s deadliest conditions for more than a century. It’s been the No. 1 cause of death since 1900, except for the year 1918.
