Hollywood Actor Charlie Sheen has been accused of using a weapon in an alleged case of domestic violence in Aspen, authorities say.
Sheen spent part of Christmas Day in jail after being arrested at a home in the Colorado ski resort town. Police spokeswoman Stephanie Dasaro did not provide details on what kind of weapon Sheen is accused of using.
Sheen also was arrested on investigation of second-degree assault, a felony, and criminal mischief , a misdemeanor, The Associated Press reports.
Sheen spent most of Christmas day in a Colorado county jail before posting $8,500 in bail and leaving the ritzy city for the Los Angeles area, according to a statement by local officials.
The incident, which took place on Friday, was apparently a dispute between Sheen and his wife, real-estate investor Brooke Mueller Sheen. A judge issued a mandatory protection order preventing Sheen from contact with his wife after officials received a 911 call at 8:34 a.m. from 320 W. Hallam St. in Aspen, a home is owned by Colorado-based Argent Wood LLC, where the Sheens were staying. Other reports allege the couple has entered counseling.
Officer Rick Magnuson arrested Sheen for second degree assault, menacing, and criminal mischief. Aspen Ambulance responded to the scene. The unnamed victim, quite possibly Brooke Mueller Sheen, did not require hospitalization.
The couple, who have twin boys, married in May 2008 after Sheen's custody fight with actress Denise Richards -- and their divorce -- dominated headlines. In 2006, a California judge ordered Sheen to stay away from Richards and the couple's two daughters. Richards had alleged Sheen had problems with gambling, drugs, and porn and was abusive. Sheen said the claims had no merit, Dscriber informs.
Sheen's publicist, Stan Rosenfield, said in a statement: "Appearance and reality can be as different as night and day. It would benefit everyone not to jump to any conclusion."
Sheen currently stars in the CBS sitcom "Two and a Half Men," and is the highest paid TV actor, earning $850,000 per episode, according to TV Guide.
Born Carlos Irwin Estevez, he is the son of actor Martin Sheen and the brother of Emilio Estevez, and played prominent roles in such motion-picture blockbusters as “Platoon," "Wall Street” and “Major League," among others.
Sheen's bad-boy image has been fueled over the years by arrests and drug problems. He has been married three times. Sheen has five children from previous relationships and marriages, Aspen Times informs.
