Isaac Hanson hospitalizes for chest and shoulder pain

The eldest member of the rock group Hanson was hospitalized after complaining of chest and shoulder pain following a performance.

Isaac Hanson, 26, was taken to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas on Tuesday night after a show at the House of Blues. A nursing supervisor said Hanson was in stable condition Wednesday night.

Dallas-Fort Worth television station KDFW reported he was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism, which occurs when a blood clot in the extremities breaks away and travels to the lungs.

Hanson's brother, Taylor, told the television station that his brother was doing well.

"We appreciate thoughts and prayers that have been out there for him," he said by phone from Tulsa, Oklahoma, the band's hometown. "We want the tour to go on, so you know we are working steadfastly to see how long he's going to need to rest."

The group is best known for its 1997 hit single, "MMMBop."
