National Healthcare Decisions Day in Georgia

The Coliseum hospital in Macon is participating in recognizing today as National Healthcare Decisions Day, and it is providing information for people to give advance directives to let their wishes be known regarding health-care decisions in a crisis.

Coliseum Health System along with other national, state and community organizations is leading an effort to highlight the importance of advance health-care decision-making, according to a news release.

Coliseum is providing information and tools for the public to talk about their wishes with family, friends and health-care providers and execute written advance directives, such as health care power of attorney and a living will, the release stated.

These resources are available at www.coliseumhealthsystem.com under the "patient online services" link, then "patient preregistration" link and look for the heading: advance directive for health care.

On May 12 and every other month, the hospital holds "Your Advance Directives Program," 9-10 a.m. in the Coliseum Northside Hospital conference center. For more information call 464-8171.
