Head of OSCE Moldova mission summoned for questioning in Russia

The head of OSCE mission in Moldova was summoned on Friday by the Russian Interior Ministry for questioning on his alleged attempt to smuggle artistically valuable posters out of the country.

A ministry statement said Louis O'Neill in March tried to take an array of posters from the 1920s out of the country without proper documentation. The posters were found by customs agents in his luggage at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport, the ministry said.

If O'Neill, a U.S. citizen, does not appear for questioning, his name could be placed on the international wanted list, the statement said.

Russia has tight restrictions on export of art and historical objects, including requiring export certification for most items more than 50 years old.
