A Warsaw-bound airplane caught fire after making an emergency landing at Istanbul's international airport.

The fire in the plane, which is owned by Egypt's AMC Airlines, was extinguished, and there was no loss of life, said the official, who works at the state agency in charge of airports. He declined to be named because he was not permitted to speak to journalists.

The plane had to make the emergency landing due to a technical problem, but its landing gear did not work properly.

The aircraft landed on its main body, causing a fire while there were 156 passengers and seven crew members aboard, the official said.

The fire was extinguished quickly, but one of the passengers was slightly injured, the official said.
