Palestinian militants today fired five rockets into the Israeli port city of Eilat with one of them landing in nearby Jordanian city of Aqaba, flaring up tensions in the Middle East anew.
Though there were no immediate reports of casualties from the beach resort of Eilat, five persons were injured, four of them seriously, when one of the rockets strayed off course and hit the Jordanian city of Aqaba, according to Hindustan Times.
One rocket landed deep inside neighboring Jordan near the port Aquba, injuring four persons while another plunged into the sea.
Palestinian militants in Gaza fired Friday a rocket into the Israeli coastal city of Ashkelon, shatterring windows of a housing complex and damaging several cars parked in a residential area.
The missile attack on Ashkelon came even as efforts were on to get Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas agree to hold direct talks with Israel as a part of the efforts to ensure a lasting peace in the Middle East, RTT News report.
