Israeli troops wound Palestinian along Gaza-Israel border

Israeli troops shot and wounded a Palestinian man along the fence separating the Gaza Strip from Israel on Thursday morning, Palestinian and Israeli officials said.

The man, a 35-year-old farmer, was shot twice and taken to the hospital in moderate condition, according to Dr. Muawiya Hassanin of the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The army said troops spotted a man sabotaging the border fence in northern Gaza and fired at his legs after he ignored calls to leave the area.

A cease-fire between Israel and the Palestinians in Gaza has been holding since late November, despite sporadic Palestinian rocket attacks on Israel and army shootings of Palestinians along the border fence, reports AP.

Israeli troops shot and killed another Palestinian along Israel's West Bank separation barrier near the city of Ramallah, Palestinian hospital officials said.

The army said it shot the Palestinian in the legs when he tried to cut the fence. Palestinian health officials said the 17-year-old Palestinian's artery was severed and he bled to death.
