Air France-KLM: passenger traffic rose 6.9 percent in August

The World’s largest airline by revenue Air France-KLM announced Friday that passenger traffic rose 6.9 percent in August after the company boosted capacity and demand rose during the summer holiday season.

The company said it carried more than 6.7 million passengers in August. Capacity during the month increased by 5.7 percent, the company said in a statement.

The passenger load factor - or the amount of passengers carried as a proportion of capacity - gained 1 percentage point to 85.3 percent.

In Europe, traffic gained 5 percent and capacity 3.6 percent. The load factor improved by one percentage point to 75.6 percent. In Asia, traffic climbed 9 percent, while capacity was boosted 7.9 percent. In the Americas, traffic gained 10.3 percent and capacity by 11 percent.

Total cargo traffic advanced 7.1 percent. The cargo load factor rose 2.3 percentage points to 63.6 percent.

Air France-KLM shares dipped 1.1 percent to EUR29.29 (US$40.01) in Paris.
