Chinese medicine receives multi-million-dollar profit from Tibet

The medicine of Tibet has become highly successful in treating heart, hypertension and blood diseases

The medicine of Tibet used to belong to a very narrow circle of sorcerers and lamas, who created their potions reading mantras and ancient charms. The production of medications with the use of ancient recipes has become the lucrative business of the Chinese pharmaceutics, which brings million-dollar profit to large companies.

Twenty-two pharmaceutical companies have been established in the Tibetan autonomous region of China. Their annual sales reach 270 million yuans ($32.5 million), the international radio of China reported. About 30 medications have been developed on the base of the traditional Tibetan medicine – they were included in the gold fund of the Chinese medicine.

It took Tibetan doctors over two thousand years to form their own reserve of remedies and healing methods. They borrowed and adopted a lot of accomplishments of the Chinese, Indian and Arab medical sciences. Despite those borrowings, the Tibetan medicine has obtained a unique character owing to the use of local crude drugs, which can be available only in mountains. A lot of medicinal herbs grow in the region, and Tibetan doctors know all about their precious healing qualities. The range of mineral components in Tibet is rather expensive too. Tibetan plants grow under the condition of sudden temperature changes and severe solar radiation. These conditions develop specific qualities of local herbs, which cannot be found in plain flora.

Tibetan healers unveiled the secret of human embryology in the 12th century. There are over two thousand endemic plants growing at the height of more than 3.5 thousand kilometers. One hundred and fifty-eight animal species provide the Tibetan medicine with their organs. The medicine of Tibet has become highly successful in treating heart, hypertension and blood diseases. Tibetan doctors' recommendations to strengthen the immune system are well known too, Itar Tass reports.
