A lightning struck an An-26 jetliner with passengers on board. On June 16, the plane was flying from the town of Saskylakh to the city of Yakutsk in Russia’s Yakutia Republic. There were 40 passengers on board the plane; none of them suffered any injuries in the accident, RIA Novosti news agency reports with reference to Yakutia Airline, which owns the jetliner.
One of the passengers said that everyone on board felt that something hit the plane on the left side of the fuselage. Afterwards, the plane started swinging from one side to another.
“That was a very unpleasant experience. The passengers were very scared, but there was no panic,” the passenger said.
The pilot managed to steer the aircraft. The plane continued its flight and performed a successful landing at the airport of Yakutsk . Specialists examined the plane after the landing but found no damage.
