Black Box, an exhibition of British video art that opens in St. Petersburg's State Historical Museum on Monday, is a good chance for Russians to familiarize themselves with one of the most auspicious trends of modern art. The event was organised by the State Historical Museum, Pro Arte Institute and the British Council. According to Anastasia Budanok, the program coordinator with the Arts Council of Great Britain, the Neva Curtain of St. Petersburg's Peter and Paul Fortress possesses 17 video art installations created in 1994-1999 by famous British artists like Roderick Buchanan, Mark Dean, Rachel Lowe and others. Born at the junction of various visual arts -- TV, cinematography and painting -- and enriched by music and words, video art is often referred to as the art of the future.
