Well-known Violinist Valery Klimov Turns 70

On October 16 violinist Valery Klimov, a laureate of international contests and People's Artist of the USSR, is celebrating his 70th anniversary. He was raised in a family of musicians and took the first lessons from his father, conductor Alexander Klimov. As a student of the Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory, Valery Klimov won many international awards at contests, including those in Berlin, Paris and Prague. In 1958 the musician won world renown: he became the winner at the Tchaikovsky 1st International Contest in Moscow. Klimov's performance is full of charm and sincerity. The lyrical sounds of his violin are emotionally received by the audience. Klimov's repertoire is very wide, with works by modern composers holding a considerable place in it. The violinist has given concerts in many countries of the world. While on tour, he performed with famous symphonic orchestras, such as the Mravinsky Leningrad Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and other groups. Now Valery Klimov gives concerts along with teaching at the Moscow Conservatory. Many of his pupils are laureates of international contest, soloists and chamber musicians.
