The Salman Field, located approximately 88 miles south of the Lavan Islands in the Persian Gulf on Iran's border with Abu Dhabi, is to be developed by PetroIran in its aims to raise production half as much again. Development is to begin in early 2003. The focus will be on bringing the field's gas to a refining facility at Assaluyeh port via a 30-inch, 240-kilometer long pipeline. Once the gas development has been completed, attention will be placed on developing the oil and condensate reserves. Once development is complete, the field is expected to produce around 50,000 barrels per day of oil, 6,000 barrels per day of condensate, and 500 million cubic feet per day of gas.
