Georgia and Russia to Start From Scratch

Georgia is ready to give up its historic prejudices and to start the relations with Russia from scratch, acting president of the country Nino Burdzhanadze declared at a session of OSCE foreign ministers in Maastricht, Russia's news agency RIA Novosti reports. 

Nino Burdzhanadze thanked Russia for the participation in settlement of the Georgian crisis and emphasized that relations between the countries should be based on mutual respect and good will. After the session, the acting president of Georgia had a closed meeting with Russia Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov. Georgia Foreign Minister Tedo Dzhaparidze took part in the negotiations as well.

Before the meeting, Nino Burdzhanadze spoke of the necessity of "total and unconditional" withdrawal of Russian military units from Georgia. The politician is sure this measure will "make for stability in the region."
 
Nino Burdzhanadze also criticized the consultations Russia's leadership was conducting with the leaders of Adzharia, South Ossetia and Abkhazia in Moscow. She said the consultations "undermine all positive achievements in the relations between both countries, Russia and Georgia."
