SARS Spreads in China

WHO worried about new cases in rural areas

As Beijing appears to be getting the SARS outbreak under control, the World Health Organization is increasingly worried about new cases breaking out in the countryside, where medical healthcare facilities are less efficient.

The regions of Tianjin, Inner Mongolia and Taiwan Province have been added to the UN travel advisory warning and join Beijing, Hong Kong, Guangdong and Shanxi as places which travellers are advised not to visit unless the trip is absolutely essential.

China and Hong Kong have 6,340 out of the 6,903 cases worldwide, with 434 out of the total of 495 deaths.
