America’s Attack on Iraq To Be Unique

An Arab experts says that the coming army action in Iraq will be the first of its kind in history

Everything that touches upon Iraq is still the prime subject for almost all world media outlets. One can not say that this global attention is caused with something special. The interest in the Iraqi issue is basically stirred up with guessing. Everyone tries to guess the date, when Americans start bombing Iraq. There has been a lot of things said on the subject during this year. It is not really easy to switch the people’s attention over to something else now.

The American television company NBC suggested another  subject for discussion. The company’s journalists came out with a new date, when the operation against Iraq would start. Journalists reported with reference to so-called informed sources in the Pentagon that the operation would start on March 1, 2003.

By the way, the date to start the attack on Iraq has been announced several times already. The latest announcement mentioned the end of December. However, the resolution of the UN Security Council and the fact that international inspectors started working in Iraq pushed the date further.

The scenario of the army operation against Iraq will provide employment for various kinds of experts and analysts. NBC company reported that the American army set up three secret army bases on the territory of Israel. Americans concentrated large reserves of their defense technology on those bases.

As a matter of fact, it is not really important, if it is true or not. Yet, there are no doubts that Israel’s Arab neighbors will have their dislike to Israel increased. It seems that a campaign against Israeli aggressors and their American sponsors is coming soon.

It is curious that NBC’s message appeared a couple of days after Iraq presented the detailed declaration of its armed forces to the UN Security Council. The document contained the detailed information about arms development, including the mass destruction weapon data. By the way, Columbia, the country that chairs the Security Council at present, decided to wash its hands of it at once. It was stated that Columbia did not have an opportunity to process the declaration of 12 thousand pages. As it was expected, the document was handed over to the United States. The Americans promised to analyze it within a short period of time.  One can argue about the honesty of this analysis, it is clear that it is not going to be unbiased.

Anyway, it is not only the United States that makes forecasts regarding the development of the army campaign against Iraq. For example,  an Arab arms expert told London-based Arab newspaper Azzaman that Iraq would be struck from the territory of Qatar. An expert said that there would be up-to-date weapons used in the attack, which would help Americans to avoid any losses. This technique also minimizes the number of civil casualties. An expert also added that the coming operation against Iraq would be the first attack, in which the aggressor would not have any losses among its military men. This is a timely forecast to make, really.

In the meantime, the Iraqi government is quite happy about the course of the inspection. Iraqi officials are really happy about it – they even presented the UN Security Council the information regarding foreign arms suppliers. However, this information has not been made public yet. Nobody knows, if it is ever going to be exposed, since a huge international scandal might follow in this case. Saddam does not sit on his hands either. He tries to intensify the contradictions between the followers an the adversaries of the army operation against Iraq.

Anyway, nothing is known about the further fate of the Iraqi regime yet. Probably, there will be some light shed on it, when the first stage of the inspection in Iraq is over. Everyone has to wait and see, what Washington will do if the inspectors’ conclusions coincide with its expectations. The USA is not going to leave Saddam Hussein alone.
