Iran and Lebanon strengthen resistance in the Middle East

Iran's ambassador to Lebanon, Gazanfar Roknabadi, reiterated on Friday support by Tehran at the lead of an anti-Israeli resistance and unity of the Lebanese people. "Iran emphasized that regional problems should be solved by the countries of the region, but this goal will not materialize..."

"The Islamic Republic of Iran always supports stability and unity in Lebanon and is attached to this country as part of the anti-Israeli axis of resistance," said Roknabadi during a meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansur.

"Iran emphasized that regional problems should be solved by the countries of the region, but this goal will not materialize unless all maintain unity against our only enemy: the Israeli regime," he said.

The Persian diplomat, besides addressing other regional current affairs with Lebanese leaders insisted on Iran's legitimate right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

Adnan Mansur, in turn, insisted on the Iran's nuclear rights and expressed satisfaction with the dialogue between Tehran and the Group 5 +1 (the United States, Russia, China, Britain and France, plus Germany).

Author's note: We are living in a world of confused values. Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary General, once again appears to take sides - and no points for guessing whose - with the following comment: "The Secretary-General believes that all leaders in the region should use their voices at this time to lower, rather than to escalate, tensions," Mr. Ban's spokesperson said. "In accordance with the United Nations Charter, all members must refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any State."

The remarks he was referring to have yet again been taken out of context and mistranslated, just as President Ahmadi-Nejád never stated that Israel should "be wiped off the map". One thing is the State of Israel, another is the presence of Zionists and Americans in the Middle East.

And let us now address the key issue. As it is well known, in Israel there exist a myriad of opinions and approaches and the Zionists themselves are disrespected among a large number of Jews who consider them negative to their cause. One thing however, is clear: it is not the people of Israel who rule the country but like everywhere else, faceless corporatist powers which dictate policy.
