Turkey ends Operation Euphrates Shield in Syria

The Turkish National Security Council has officially declared about end of the military Operation Euphrates Shield in the territory of Syria. As representatives of the highest military and political body of Turkey reported, the aim of invasion into Syria has been achieved: the Turkish troops have liberated the cities of Jarabulus and el-Bab.

According to the Turkish PM Binali Yildirim, 'as a result of the special operation, more than 2,000 square kilometres have been liberated in the north of Syria. At the moment local residents are coming back home, while control over the territory has been passed to the Free Syrian Army'.

However, 'in case Turkey faces a threat in the future, we may restore our military acts again,' Yildirim said.
As Pravda.Ru reported, the Operation Euphrates Shield was started in August 2016; and its main aim was liberation of the northern Syrian regions from the ISIS fighters.
