NATO’s concern about final operation in Aleppo justified

The NATO representatives assert that Russia has deployed all the ships of its Northern fleet and part of the Baltic one to reinforce the campaign in Syria, the Reuters wrote with a reference to an unnamed diplomat of the organization.

The Northern fleet itself had stated before about deployment of a group of ships in the Mediterranean and even specified their names. According to the source, 'it's the biggest deployment operation since the end of Cold War. The NATO believes that in such a way Russia intends to increase the number of aircraft in Syria and start the final air operation in Aleppo within two weeks. Before that press secretary of the Northern fleet reported that given the Russian Navy's combat readiness plan, on 15 October a group of the Northern fleet aircraft carriers set off to the north-eastern regions of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean Sea. The group comprises heavy aircraft carrier Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov, heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser Peter the Great, anti-submarine destroyers Severomorsk and Vice-Admiral Kulakov as well as auxiliary ships.

The Admiral Kuznetsov carries the Su-33 and Su-25 on the regular basis, as well as Ka-27/Ka-29 helicopters. For the moment a new aviation group of the MiG-29K fighters and Ka-52K helicopters are being tested on the vessel.
