US to experiment with genetic modification of humans

The American researchers obtained permission to carry out experiments on genetic modification of people. Advisory council on recombinant DNA under the US Department of Health and Human Services approved conduct of such experiments by researchers from the University of Pennsylvania. It is reported that genetic experiments will take place in three centres, these are the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Houston and the University of California in San Francisco. The researchers are going to improve immune cells with the help of CRISPR/Cas9 technology, that would allegedly allow to effectively combat cancer diseases. It is noted that 18 subjects with various types of cancer (sarcoma, melanoma and myeloma) will take part in this experiment, which will last two years.
