Arctic is ours: Russia creates powerful nuclear icebreaker

The Arktika nuclear icebreaker has been launched in St. Petersburg. It's the most powerful icebreaker of the type. The Arktika will lay foundation for a group of nuclear vessels, which are necessary to conquer the Arctic. Federation Council speaker Valentina Matvienko had broken a bottle of champagne against the hull of the new nuclear-powered icebreaker before factory workers floated the vessel out. "It's hard to overestimate what has been done by our scientists, designers and shipbuilders. I am very proud of our country and the people who created such a ship," she claimed. According to her, now Russia possesses its own nuclear fleet, which will allow to carry out important research in the Arctic. The ship can navigate for more than six months without entering ports to recharge the reactor.
