US tells Iraq not to cooperate with Russia

Iraq no longer intends to appeal to Russia for help in the fight against terrorists. Allegedly, such a decision was made after the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Army Joseph Dunford paid a visit to the country.

The US official said that the States would not be able to conduct operations in Iraq, if Russians act in the country as well. Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi earlier expressed a positive attitude to the Russian air strikes on Islamists. However, it was only a verbal statement - Iraq did not ask Russia for assistance, and this was confirmed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
