NATO prepares Russia 'Swift Response'


Europe hosts largest drills since the end of the Cold War. Four countries, namely Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, and Italy provided their territories for about 5,000 military men from 11 member states of the NATO. The drills are called ''Swift Response 15'' and will be carried out till September 17.

Among the announced objectives is to help allied "high-readiness forces" act as one and ''demonstrate the alliance's capacity to rapidly deploy and operate in support of maintaining a strong and secure Europe''. The drills will be conducted under the command of the famous US 82nd Airborne Division glorified in many Hollywood films.
