Mayor of the Ukrainian town of Novograd-Volynsky, Vladimir Zagrivy suggested renaming Ukraine to Ukraine-Rus. The information appeared on the official website of the town. The message from the town council said that the text of the suggestion to rename Ukraine would soon be sent to the Verkhovna Rada.
Meanwhile, town's officials have already sent a letter of the proposal to Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, in which it was said that the name Ukraine-Rus had been stolen from the Ukrainian people together with its glorious history and was then assimilated by the current aggressor state several centuries ago.
In addition, the mayor believes that renaming Ukraine would be the best way to pay respect to many Ukrainian patriots, who gave their lives for their nation.
