Russia's political isolation possible?

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius suggested Europe should introduce political sanctions against Russia, in addition to economic ones. According to the official, one should not terminate all contracts with Russia, but one does have to stop holding top level meetings that bring no results and take place for no reason.

KonstantinKalachev, political scientist, head of the Political expert group

"The political isolation of Russia is impossible, because politics is concentrated expression of economics, as classics of Marxism and Leninism used to say. Political isolation is fraught with deeper crisis of relations that will seriously affect economic cooperation. Nowadays, interdependence of states is too large and it will remain so in the future. I think Western leaders are aware of that. Dialogue must continue in any format, even under the conditions of confrontation. For the time being, there is no reason to believe that the West is ready to terminate relations with Russia, let alone the Russian consumer market and fuel resources."
