EU extends Russia sanctions for 6 months

The European Union has extended sanctions against Russia for six months, till January 31, 2016. The decision has not become a surprise to Russia.

British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond previously stated that the EU would continue the economic confrontation with Russia.

According to him, the EU would continue extending the sanctions until Moscow observed the Minsk agreements.

The EU has refused to tighten the sanctions, but only prolonged the economic embargo from last year.

The United States will most likely join Europe soon.

Earlier, the Russian side promised to extend the food embargo, if the EU was not going to remove the restrictions.
