Russian man swims state border twice while intoxicated

Alexander Tatarinov, a resident of the Kaliningrad region, got drunk and crossed the border between Russia and Lithuania. In fact, he crossed it twice by swimming across the river to and fro. The river forms a natural boundary between the two countries. Tatarinov was later taken into custody.

“The prosecutor’s office of the city of Sovetsk sent to court the case of Alexander Tatarinov who is charged with an illegal crossing of the state border of the Russian Federation,” said a spokesperson for the prosecutor’s office. The crime carries a punishment stipulated in Section 1 Article 322 of the Russian Criminal Code. The reckless swimmer may be punished by a fine up to 200,000 rubles or sent to jail for 2 years.

Apparently, the prosecutors refused to take into account the circumstances under which Tatarinov broke the law. “Tatarinov told us that he had crossed the border after making a bet with his friends at a party. It is understood they were drinking alcoholic beverages,” said a representative of the prosecutor’s office.

Drinking to excess can make people act in a most ridiculous way. We may as well recall the story of a young Briton who shot off his own penis after having too much of a drink in the pub. Apparently, the 28-year-old David Walker and his friends could not reach an agreement as to who was supposed to pay for the next round of drinks. Walker went home and got his shotgun with a view to close the argument. Then he pulled the trigger by accident. The damage done to Walker’s sex organ proved to be irreparable. Besides, Walker was arrested and prosecuted for illegal possession of a firearm.

According to latest studies, women can be even more violent then men when they hit the bottle. Compared with male drinkers, women under the influence are more likely to steer up trouble, start an argument or pick a fight, and end up in a hospital or a bullpen. “Women who drink alcohol are more dangerous to other people than to themselves,” says one the studies.
