Starquake contest winner to fly into space for free

The winner of an online contest on the Starquake portal will have an opportunity to fly into space. The unexampled project was launched on April 12, the Cosmonautics Day and is said to finish a year later, RIA Novosti reports.

“The participation in the contest if free for anyone The winner will fly into space on board a US private spaceship,” Russian science fiction writer Sergei Lukyanenko said.

The spaceship performs tourist suborbital flights which are available for anyone who has no restrictions health-wise.

“The spaceship does not go to the orbit. It flies to the height of about 100 kilometers, and returns to the Earth. A ticket for this flight costs $200,000. The organizers of the contest have already purchased the ticket for the winner,” Lukyanenko said.

The contest started on April 12. The results of the contest will be exposed a year later, on April 12, 2010.
