Young man hijacks armored vehicle in broad daylight

A young man hijacked an armored vehicle in broad daylight in Russia’s Jewish autonomous region. The man may face up to ten years in jail for his passion for military hardware.

The regional Office of the Public Prosecutor has already approved the indictment on the case.

The incident occurred on the outskirts of the settlement of Gorny, where a military exercise took place.

The young man, who neither works nor studies, had befriended a serviceman shortly before the incident. The latter participated in the exercise as a driver of the armored vehicle.

The military man showed his new friend the basic techniques to drive the vehicle. The local citizen was thrilled with an opportunity to drive the infantry carrier and he decided to steal it.

The next day the man arrived at the location, where the vehicle was left unattended, started the engine and drove it away.

The engine of the vehicle died in only 100 meters. The infantry carrier is equipped with a powerful gun, grenade-launchers and an anti-tank missile launcher.

The culprit was arrested and taken to a police station.

Incidents of hijacking military hardware are extremely rare. A similar story has recently happened in Bulgaria, when two German and a Bulgarian officer were put on trial for hijacking a WWII tank.
