Election Commission Registers People's Party Federal List

electionsAt its Wednesday session the Russian Central Election Commission registered the federal list of 231 candidates nominated by the People's Party for the State Duma elections.

The party has submitted to the Commission over 225,000 signatures of voters in its support, Commission member Lyudmila Demyanchenko announced at the session. Only 2,177 signatures, or 2.72 per cent out of the checked 80,000, were found invalid, which is considerably lower the set barrier of 25 per cent, she pointed out.

Thus, the party's candidates in single-member constituencies have received the right to register in district election commissions without collection of signatures or pledge, the Commission's head Alexander Veshnyakov said. "It is important that they should remember about it and come to the election commissions with the necessary documents," he emphasized.
