Three new railway stations to be built in Moscow

Three railway stations for high-speed trains are going to be built in Moscow soon. One of them will appear near the Kalanchevsky Square, the second one – on Ilich Square and the third one will be built in the area of Moscow City business center, Interfax reports.

Moscow’s chief architect, Alexander Kuzmin, stated at a session of the city government that the capital needs new railway terminals.

“For the time being, there are nine railway stations in Moscow. We need to organize high-speed communication to have Moscow linked with European capitals,” Kumin said.

The official pointed out that high-speed service can be organized on such directions as Moscow-St. Petersburg, Moscow-South, Moscow-East and Moscow-West.

“The construction of additional railways and new railway stations would make a journey from Moscow to Berlin last for about eight hours,” the official said.

Moscow currently works on another major railway project to connect the city center with three airports – Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo. Passengers will be able to use the new terminal to reach any of the three international airports and travel to St. Petersburg on a new high-speed train.
