Germany police reports they had detained two 19-year-old men on suspicion of plotting to bomb an apple festival, noting the pair appeared to be acting out of personal frustration and did not seem politically motivated.

The young men, who were not identified, were to be brought before a judge on Wednesday.

State police in Schleswig-Holstein said they arrested the pair near Hamburg late Tuesday, acting on information gathered by officers following investigating the blowing up of a cigarette machine in the same area in July. Both men were known to police for previous acts of violence.

Police said they believed the men were planning an attack on an apple festival in the northern village of Rellingen over the coming weekend.
