Late reggae superstar Bob Marley's former road manager was convicted of drug trafficking and got 18 months of imprisonment.
Alan Cole was accused of planning to export 200 pounds (90 kilograms) of marijuana that police found in his east Kingston home in 2002.
The magistrate released Cole on 2 million Jamaican dollars (US$30,000; 22,000 EUR) bond pending an appeal by his attorney.
Cole, 57, was a close friend of the musician and received a writing credit for the song "War," from the album "Rastaman Vibration" released in 1976 by Bob Marley and the Wailers.
