Hungary prime minister allows public employees to remove pantyhose and neckties

Hungary's prime minister allowed  to remove pantyhose and neckties during the current heat wave.

Forecasters predict that temperatures will be above 30 degrees Centigrade (86 degrees Fahrenheit) all week in most of Hungary, with highs 35 degrees Centigrade (95 degrees Fahrenheit) or more toward the weekend.

Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsany also asked that labor rules regarding rest periods and access to water for those working outside be enforced.

He said national labor officials should intensify the supervision of workplace conditions during the heat wave, the Prime Minister's Office said in statement.

Hungary's chief medical officer, Dr. Ferenc Falus, issued a second-degree heat wave warning Monday, saying the hot weather could especially affect children, the elderly and those taking medications.

Falus also advised against being out in the sun during the noon hours to avoid getting heat stroke.
