World Cup: for Ghana, match against Brazil is “prize,” couch says

"Our target was to qualify and we were really, really happy to participate in the World Cup. Now we are here and we are competing," Ghana coach Ratomir Dujkovic said. "The Black Stars of Ghana are the Brazilians of Africa so they're not afraid of anybody."

The Ghanaians, ranked 48th in the world, beat the United States 2-1 Thursday and finished in second place in Group E behind Italy.

Haminu Draman scored one goal Thursday and Appiah converted a penalty for Ghana's victory. Clint Dempsey scored for the Americans, who lost captain Claudio Reyna in the first half, disputed the penalty decision, and nearly equalized in the second half when Brian McBride hit the post with a header.

Pimpong sat out of training after picking up a slight injury against the Americans. African music blared from the bus stereo as the team departed, the AP reports.
