The men detained Sunday during a security sweep were suspected of taking part in an ambush earlier this month in which one police officer was killed and another one wounded, the regional branch of Russia's Interior Ministry said in a statement.
Most large-scale fighting has ended in Chechnya more than six years after Russian forces re-entered the region, but militants continue to stage regular hit-and-run raids and detonate land mines and explosives, targeting federal forces and local collaborators, according to the AP.
