Denmark's Queen Margrethe II met Greek President Karolos Papoulias Wednesday at the start of a three-day visit to Greece.
Margrethe, accompanied by her husband Prince Henrik, will also meet Prime Minister Costas Caramanlis before her visit ends Friday.
The 66-year-old monarch became queen in 1972, and is the older sister of Greece's former Queen Anne-Marie.
Greece's former King Constantine II and Anne-Marie officially lost their titles after Greeks voted overwhelmingly to abolish the monarchy in a 1974 referendum that followed the collapse of a seven-year military dictatorship, reports the AP.
