French judges to question 10 people arrested in anti-terror sweep

French anti-terrorist judges will question 10 people arrested in a series of raids against suspected Islamist militants and are expected to place them under official investigation on Friday, judicial officials said. The move, one step short of being charged under French law, comes after counter-terrorism agents this week arrested 28 people suspected of using robberies to fund terror groups, possibly including al-Qaida in Iraq.

The raids Monday and Thursday on homes and Internet cafes near Paris and in the northern Oise area were among the largest sweeps of suspected Islamic militants in France in more than two years. Police had the alleged network under surveillance for months.
