Fifteen detained on suspicion they organized prostitution in northern Czech Republic

Fifteen people were arrested on suspicion they organized prostitution in night clubs near the border with Germany, a police spokeswoman said Monday.

Blanka Kosinova said in a statement the 15 Czech citizens, detained on Friday, are suspected of organizing prostitution in four night clubs.

Kosinova said at least 60 young women, most of them Czechs, had passed through the night clubs over the past year. Seven of them were under the age of 18.

All of the women worked voluntarily in the clubs, she said.

Kosinova said that a judge ruled Monday that three of the detainees _ the owners of the clubs _ be put into custody, while the others, mostly taxi drivers and bartenders, have been freed during the investigation.

All face up to eight years in prison if convicted, she said, AP reported. V.A.
