U.S. Coast Guard records year for cocaine seizures

The U.S. Coast Guard hit a record high for cocaine seizures this year in the eastern Pacific Ocean, intercepting 150 tons of the drug, officials said Thursday.

Last year, the Coast Guard seized 120 tons, said Senior Chief Petty Officer John Moss.

Officials planned to display 11 1/2 tons of cocaine Friday at Alameda's Coast Guard Island before shipping it to an undisclosed location, Moss said, adding that additional details would be released at a Friday morning news conference, AP reports.
