Madonna recovering after fall

US pop star Madonna was released from hospital after being treated for injuries she suffered in a horse riding accident.

She had been taken to Salisbury District Hospital near her residence outside London after falling off her horse while celebrating her 47th birthday.

Madonna suffered three cracked ribs, a broken collarbone and a broken hand, her spokeswoman Barbara Charone said.

Madonna and her family - husband Guy Ritchie, 36, and children Lourdes, 8, and Rocco, 5 - were at the family's 1,200-acre Ashcombe estate in Wiltshire to celebrate the pop superstar's 47th birthday, Xinhua says.

"She is recovering at home," Charone said.

Madonna is due to release a new album "Confessions on a Dancefloor" in November. Charone said she did not expect Madonna's injuries to affect the launch or promotion of the record.
