In Madrid, a group of Russian Emergencies Ministry field engineers is undergoing training in the deactivation of air bombs and other explosives by NATO standards, a representative of the ministry's information department, Viktor Beltsov, told RIA Novosti Tuesday.
According to him, the Russian specialists are being trained at the Spanish army's military engineering academy international minesweeping center.
"They are personnel from the 179th rescue center and specialists from Russian Emergencies Ministry Leader special-risk rescue operations center," Mr. Beltsov specified.
"Disposing of air bombs in the Russian Federation is within the ministry's responsibilities," he said.
After the training course, their experience in Spain is planned to be summarized so that it can be used at the ministry's schools.
The training course is from June 1-9, he said.
Bombs, shells and mines left over from the first and second world wars are found in Russia that are in Russia every week, especially in its western regions. The ministry's specialists dispose of the explosives but exploding them in a safe place.
