Baltika to Be Only Russian Participant in Berlin Beer Festival

An international beer festival will take place in Berlin from August 1 through 3. The Baltika press service told Rosbalt that on the festival's two-meter long alley 75 countries will present 1650 different kinds of beer. At the same time, Baltika was the only Russian company to receive an invitation to this year's festival.

The festival will provide a meeting place for brewers who can exchange experience and show off their new developments in the area of brewing and, at the same time, also present new kinds of beer. During the festival, a congress of European beer lovers will also be held. Baltika will have an entire area complete with bar offering different kinds of Baltika beer including Baltika - #4 Original, Baltika - #7 Export, and Baltika - #8 Wheat. Baltika is also enjoying a recent increase in sales. In the first seven months of 2003, Baltika has exported more than 2 million bottles of beer to Germany compared with 2.5 million for all of 2002. This has also led to the opening in 2002 in Hamburg of the Baltikia German subsidiary Baltika Deutschland GmbH.

In 2002 Baltika beer was sold on the market in 28 different countries. The company accounted for more than 70% of total Russian beer exports in 2002, and Baltika exports continue to grow in 2003.

Baltika recently won a competition for the honorary title of the best Russian exporter in 2002 awarded by the Economic Development and Trade Ministry for increasing the economic ties of Russia abroad and developing domestic production, exports and high professional culture.

Baltika was founded in 1990 and registered in June, 1992. The company has authorized capital stock valued at approximately USD 4 million. In the first quarter of 2003 the company produced 3.2 million hectoliters of beer, and export sales increased by 9.5% compared to the same period in 2002.
