On Thursday Russian Foreign Minster Igor Ivanov held a meeting with Moroccan State Minister Abbas El Fassi, who came to Moscow as special envoy of Moroccan King Mohamed VI.
Abbas El Fassi has delivered a personal message from the King Mohamed VI to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Russian Foreign Ministry Department of Information and Press disclosed to a RIA Novosti correspondent.
According to the Ministry, Igor Ivanov and Abbas El Fassi discussed the issue concerning the Western Sahara settlement. They both agreed on the non-alternative peaceful and political settlement of the issue within the framework of the respective UN resolutions.
The Russian Foreign Minister explained Russia's principal position on the Western Sahara issue and the Moroccan side accepted it.
Igor Ivanov and Abbas El Fassi confirmed the shared interest of Moscow and Rabat in thee further development of friendly relations between Russia and Morocco, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
