Jewish Organisations in Belarus Protest against Distribution of 'Anti-Semitic' Russian Newspaper

A number of Jewish organisations and unions in Belarus have protested against the distribution of Russian newspaper Russkii Vestnik [Russian Newsletter] in Belarus. Leading Jewish figures made an appeal to General Prosecutor of Belarus Victor Sheiman, accusing the Russian newspaper of 'blatant' anti-Semitism.

An edition of Russkii Vestnik appeared at the end of March exaggerating the myth that Jews use sacrificial blood for ritual purposes, the appeal reads. Those making the appeal believe that the newspaper was deliberately trying to cause national and religious hostility and should be punished in accordance with article 130 of the criminal code in Belarus.
