Moscow and Delhi Call for Early Solution of Iraqi Issue - 2 April, 2003 - News

Moscow and Delhi have called for an early solution to the Iraqi problem within the framework of the UN Security Council resolutions.

The discussion of the situation around Iraq was the key-issue at the meeting on Wednesday between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Yury Fedotov and Indian Ambassador in Moscow Krishnan Raghunath, the Russian Foreign Ministry Information and Press Department reported.

Both sides spoke for reinforcing the UN role as a universal mechanism promoting international peace and security. Fedotov and Raghunath stressed the importance of preventing the humanitarian catastrophe in Iraq as a result of military actions in the country.
